Explorations of the shale gas starts in the Wierzbica district.
The drillings will be carried out starting next Monday in Syczyn. The assembly of the equipment is being completed on the spot. The drilling will take approx. 35 days and will be carried out 24 hours a day. A vertical hole almost three kilometres deep will be made. Experts will take rock samples. For more or less six months they will be testing how much gas is found in them and whether it is profitable to extract it. “If the results are good, then in June next year we will start making horizontal boreholes and fracturing,” says Wiesław Prugar, President of the Management Board of Orlen Upstream, a company which is engaged in gas exploration in that area.
