Tuszynki-1K is the first exploration well, which ORLEN Upstream Group will drill within the area of Bysław-Wudzyń license, in Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodeship. Wells drilled previously in this region proved the perspectivity for the occurrence of hydrocarbons in the area.
To continue exploration works, ORLEN Upstream Group has started drilling of Tuszynki-1K. The well’s planned depth is 3250 m (TVD*), and the length, including curvature, will be 3280 m (MD**). The planned operations with production tests will last approx. 90 days. The well is located in Bukowiec municipality within the area of Bysław-Wudzyń license (49/2008/Ł) that is a part of the Edge project area. The purpose of conduced works is to confirm the occurrence of hydrocarbons, as well as to obtain detailed information on the region’s geological structure.
“This will be our first well in the area of Bysław-Wudzyń license. However, works conducted in the neighboring licenses prove the significant potential of this region for the occurrence of hydrocarbons,” Janusz Radomski, the President of the Management Board of ORLEN Upstream, said. “I hope that the drilling works commenced today will bring positive results.”
Edge project covers the area that consists of 5 licenses: Brda-Rzeczenica, Bysław-Wudzyń, Chojnice-Wilcze, Tuchola N and Unisław-Gronowo. They are located mainly within Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Pomorskie voivodeships. FX Energy Poland that is a part of ORLEN Upstream Group is a licensee.
ORLEN Upstream Group is currently preparing for drilling in Southern Poland. In upcoming days, drilling will be started in Skołyszyn village that is located in the project area of Karpaty. The Skołyszyn-OU1K well’s planned depth will be 2119 m (TVD*), and the length – 2152 (MD**). Currently setting up of a drilling rig is ongoing.
* TVD (true vertical depth) – total vertical depth of a well calculated from the ground surface to the well bottom.
** MD (measured depth) – true length of a well calculated from the ground surface to the well bottom, including a drill curvature.
