In Syczyn a test drilling is carried out in search for the shale gas. In the result, few people from this area got work.

 

“If the explorations are successful, the entire Poland will hear about our place,” say the residents. “The noise is not a problem. Some swoosh can be heard but one can stand it,” says Monika Buch. It is on her and her neighbour’s plot that the well is located. “I have work. In addition to myself, six other people were hired, three from Syczyn and three from outside of the village but they are the inhabitants of our district”, says Monika. “If they find gas here we will only gain from it. They will build a road, there will be new jobs, more revenues for the district’s budget from taxes,” she lists the advantages. 

 

“For some time now life in Syczyn has been a bit different. All the time people say if Orlen finds gas our region will become an economic power, that life will be better for us,” say the residents of the village. “I would like to thank the residents of Syczyn and the neighbourhood because they welcomed us with great openness. I assure you that we will not abuse the trust, we will not bother you too much because we work with the best technology which is the most quiet and friendly for the environment,” said Jacek Krawiec, President of the PKN Orlen Management Board at the official opening of the well in Syczyn. “We will know soon how much of this gas is available in Poland, how much could be used. In 30-40 days the drilling in Syczyn will be completed. In a few months we will know its results. I believe we will be successful.
