PKN ORLEN continues exploration of hydrocarbon deposits in Poland, expanding their range with assets that had been acquired in 2015. Arrangements for 3D seismic data acquisition on Lublin concession are in progress. Drilling of Bajerze-1K exploratory well has been also commenced. This well is located in Unisław-Gronowo licence in Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, which is part of the „Edge” area associated with 4 licences.
Drilling works in Kijewo Królewskie commune were commenced on 1st February this year. Bajerze-1K well is located in the area of Unisław-Gronowo licence (no. 51/2008/p) within Chełmno county (Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship). Planned total measured depth (TMD) of the well is 4077 m, including directional section of approximately 1350 m.
The decision related to location of the well has been based on the logging data analysis of previous wells as well as 2D and 3D surveys which were completed in the course of multi-stage reprocessing of archive seismic data. Drilling this year will be carried out in the vicinity of the Chojnice-Wilcze licence area, within Tuchola deposit was discovered in 2013. Its 2P reserves are estimated at 272 million Nm3 of natural gas*. Laboratory analysis of core samples, obtained from prospective layers, will facilitate making decision related to continuation of works in this area.
Exploration of hydrocarbon deposits within the Lublin region has been also continued by PKN ORLEN. Until the end of April, 3D seismic survey will have been completed within partial areas of Lublin, Łęczna, Świdnica, and Krasnystaw counties (areas located, in the majority, within Lublin concession no. 27/2007/p). This area covers approximately 450 km2. Seismic survey will be carried out in 14 communes in total. On the basis of acquired and processed data, a decision related to continuation of exploration works within this area shall be made.
In 2016 PKN ORLEN is planning to continue exploration, appraisal, and production works that have been carried out currently on 29 Polish licences** located within 8 provinces. From the beginning of this year, integration of recently acquired assets with existing project portfolio of ORLEN Upstream has been carried out. Current global oil&gas market conditions affect operations of upstream segment of PKN ORLEN which, in response to low crude oil prices, systematically diversifies and optimizes its portfolio of exploration and production assets.
