Drilling works in the locality of Kisielsk, commune of Stoczek Łukowski, ended in May 2014, and the Stoczek-OU1K horizontal well reached the total length of 4307 m. Currently, preparations are in progress for the next stage, i.e. hydraulic fracturing. “The planned procedure will be of a hybrid nature. We are going to test several different methods of cracking of the rocks, on consecutive sections of the same well,” said Wiesław Prugar the CEO of ORLEN Upstream,. “We are planning to use fracturing fluid formulations modified on the basis of our experience so far, as well as pumping technologies adapted to the nature and properties of the rock. We are also going to use new methods, previously not applied in Poland, to assess the productivity of the deposit,” Mr Prugar added.

In July, construction and filling of the process water tanks was completed, and currently mobilization of equipment and of servicing teams is in progress. Over the past weeks, in relation to the next stage of the works, consultation meetings have been held with the council of the Stoczek Łukowski commune and with the inhabitants of the neighbouring localities in the well site area.

The Company is also planning to use, in the nearest future, the horizontal exploratory well located in the commune of Cyców (Wierzbica concession). According to the strategy of PKN ORLEN for the years 2014–2017, the target of periodic reviews of the exploratory assets held in Poland is to select the most prospective areas on which prospecting-exploratory works will focus in the coming years. In addition, in the next few years, the Company does not rule out an expansion of the area of works by acquiring assets, project partnerships, or obtaining new concession blocks.
