The State Geological Institute (PIG) has released a report on the impact of shale gas exploration on the environment. The report, prepared on the basis of findings of research conducted at a well-bore at Łebień in Pomerania (where work is carried out by a UK company, Lane Energy) says that work of this type, when performed according to the specifications of the laws in effect in Poland, poses no hazard to the soil. According to the report, hydraulic fracturing has not affected the purity of air. Neither was the noise hazardous, and no deterioration of the quality of surface and underground waters was established.
