During recent EGI Advisory Board meeting held on Oct. 27th in Milan, Italy Wiesław Prugar had been inducted into the EGI Advisory Board.
The EGI Advisory Board exists exclusively to support the research and educational programs of the Energy & Geoscience Institute. The Board’s function is to provide advice on research programs, budgeting, and support activities and other functions provided by management of EGI.
The committee, counting 19 members, increased by 4 people. EGI Advisory Board is chaired by Steven R. Bell, Chief Executive Officer, Remora Energy. The EGI Advisory Board through its members represents main global corporations: Chevron Corporation, ConocoPhillips Corporation, Hunt Oil, BG Group, ENI spa, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Statoil, Petrobras, Venezuela. Shell, Wintershall Holding, Hess, Maersk Oil Houston Inc.., Tullow Oil Plc., Frontera Resources, Cobalt International Energy, BHP Billiton Petroleum, Occidental Oil & Gas, ICON, Talisman Energy, and Nexen. Wieslaw Prugar is not only the first Pole in the Board, but ORLEN Upstream Company is the only entity with Polish capital represented in the structures of The Energy & Geoscience Institute.
The Energy & Geoscience Institute is the largest geoscience technology consortium of its kind in the world, with over 60 members in the Corporate Associates Program from 18 countries. Its history dates back to 1973, when the Earth Science and Resources Institute (ESRI) was founded at the University of South Carolina, with a primary focus in geoscience research in North Africa. In 1996, the original organization was merged with the University of Utah Research Institute (UURI) in Salt Lake City, which primarily focused on geothermal energy issues and with its new name, EGI has continued to expand both in applied research in hydrocarbons as well as geothermal applications for both government and industry.
